Welcome to our monthly series!

Our goal is to share with YOU how Athletic Therapy can help you recover from common injuries you or a loved one may be experiencing. Each month will showcase and discuss a new condition athletic therapists see and treat each day

Injuries from Motor Vehicle Accidents

If you have ever been in a car accident, you know just how jarring and frightening it can be. Injuries to the body can occur in any type of motor vehicle accident and at any speed. Rear-end collisions, single vehicle crashes, hit on the side (T-boned), low speed accidents, etc. Between violent movement, impacts, debris, and more, injuries from car accidents can vary. Your injuries may present immediately or may take several days after the accident to appear. You may also be concerned about missing work, unable to complete your activities of daily living, or missing out on family activities because of the injuries sustained.

If you have been in a car accident, it is best to seek medical treatment right away if you feel any level of pain or discomfort. Every situation is unique and specific diagnosis and treatment methods should be obtained from a health care professional, such as an athletic therapist to set you on a path to faster recovery.

Here are some common motor vehicle accident injuries athletic therapists can help resolve:

  • Soft Tissue injuries- broken bones, sprains, strains, bruises and other damage to muscles, tendons, and ligaments
  • Neck Injuries such as Whiplash Associated Disorder (WAD)
  • Back injuries with symptoms such as numbness or tingling, arm and leg pain, and muscle weakness.
  • Concussions

If you have beenĀ  injured in a motor vehicle accident, you are entitled to see an athletic therapist for up to 12 sessions within three months of your accident for FREE. Our objective is always to get you back to the activities and work you could perform prior to the accident, so that you can continue living the life you deserve.
